Spring Birdies!

birdsbowl.jpg

Felt birdies have arrived just in time for spring! Hopefully spring is just around the corner, even though the snow keeps coming. These little birdies are knitted from 100% merino wool and then felted. All of the felt birds are hand-sewn and possess a cute button on their wing and a ribbon for hanging. Each Bird measures 6.5″W X 2.5″H. All three birds are placed in one of my hand knitted bowls and this one happens to be green for spring, yay! Birdies are super cute and would brighten any room! Vintage Inspired Clutch

vintageclutch.jpg

This vintage inspired clutch is one of my latest creations. I knitted this handbag using 100% Lopi Wool and then felted it. For embellishment, I decided to use pieces of wool felt and gems to create a brooch which can be wore separately to jazz up any jacket, bag. etc. This clutch was inspired by accessories wore by my grandma but with a modern flare of today. This clutch is great for special occasions making you the hit of the party!. My latest creation is now listed on Etsy, to view visit http://myjennywren.etsy.com.

“Cup of Me”

Just before Christmas I bought “Cup of Me” a painting by Amy Ruppel. I had a hard time deciding which one to buy at her online sale because I loved them all. I do admit that I am slightly obsessed with birds and have been collecting her printed cards for sometime and decided to take the plunge and buy one of her paintings. I like how she uses wax and collage techniques to create works of art. I’m so glad I decided to purchase one of her paintings, I only wish I could buy lots more. Heart Shaped Cookies

 allcookies.jpg
Freshly baked from the oven..okay not really. These heart shaped cookies are made with fibers and felt.
My inspirations stemmed from the stain glass cookies I made when I was little and yummy jam filled cookies, I can’t seem to resist. After I knitted and felted the wool, I then cut it into heart shapes and played with various wool and silk roving’s to make the center of the cookie. For extra fun, I scented the cookies which make any room smell great. These Pretty and Oh So Lovely cookies can brighten any room and make nice gifts, especially with Valentine’s around the corner. My heart shaped cookies can be purchased at Etsy, http://myjennywren.etsy.com.

Words for the Soul

Craig Cardiff’s new album”GOODNIGHT (GO HOME)” is worth a definite listen.I was very happy to stumble upon Craig Cardiff on the CBC. His words and music are inspiring and I was lucky enough to catch him play with a few friends in Ottawa. It was a great show although, I was sad there wasn’t more Craig. I  am eagerly awaiting for him to play again soon. Visit Craig Cardiff, http://craigcardiff.org/loveofmusic/.
